15.000 Nirosta Stecknadeln mit blauem Kopf auf transparenter Plastikfolie, auf Plexiglasrahmen genäht. 135cm x 105cm x 6cm (pro Element: 45cm x 35 cm x 6cm)

Das Motiv der einzelnen Elemente sind „Arabesken“ – ein Dekorationselement, das in allen Gattungen der islamischen Kunst verwendet wird, besonders an Fassaden sakraler Bauwerke.

In diesen Darstellungen soll das Paradies nachgeahmt werden. Doch oft sind die Menschen – vielfach Frauen – in Ländern der islamischen Welt von massiven Menschenrechtsverletzungen betroffen. Die Protestbewegung im Iran seit Herbst 2022 war der Anlass diese Arbeit umzusetzen.

An der Vorderseite der Mosaikelemente schmückt die Ornamentik aus blauen Stecknadeln, an der Rückseite sind die Nirosta Nadelspitzen sichtbar.

„MOSAIC OF PINS“, 2023/2024

The motif of the elements are „arabesques“ – a decorative element used in all genres of Islamic art, especially on facades of sacred buildings.

In these depictions, paradise is supposed to be imitated. However, people – often women – in countries of the Islamic world are often affected by massive human rights violations. The protest movement in Iran since autumn 2022 was the reason to realize this work.

On the front of the mosaic elements decorate the ornamentation of blue pins, on the back are visible Nirosta needle points.
